The country will get Covid-19 vaccine manufactured by Bangladesh by next year as the local pharmaceutical companies are getting prepared, said Salam F Rahman, adviser on private industry and investment to the prime minister.
"Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd will complete building a dedicated facility for the Covid-19 vaccine within the next six weeks as well as Incepta Pharmaceuticals Limited signed a deal with a Chinese company to manufacture the vaccine," he said while addressing a press meet at the conference room of Dhaka Reporters' Unity.
He said Beximco is corresponding with some entities, including Serum Institute of India, Pfizer and Moderna, to manufacture the Covid-19 vaccine in Bangladesh.
It is needed to manufacture the vaccine locally as there is a possibility for the coronavirus pandemic to continue in the world, he said.
