Iran claims to have stopped two US drones in the Arabian Sea. The country claimed that the incident took place in Iran's airspace in the Arabian Sea on Tuesday. Anadolu news agency quoted Iranian state media as saying.
The report said the RQ4 and MQ-9 drones were intercepted when they entered Iran's air defense system.
Tehran has also claimed that the drones have been warned. They say the two drones wanted to gather information about Iran's annual military exercises.
The United States has not immediately commented on Iran's claims. Earlier in the day, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken expressed concern over Iran's "destabilizing" move in the Middle East. He expressed his country's concerns during a meeting with visiting Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri in Washington.
"The United States and Egypt are deeply concerned about Iran's destabilizing role in the region and its efforts to exert influence in the region," said Anthony Blinken.
