Danish Manzoor "An International Taekwondo Athlete"

Danish Manzoor is an International Taekwondo Athlete who competes for Team India in the sport of Taekwondo. A player of J&K Taekwondo team he has represented it at many National Championships. He secured his first National medal in the year of 2016 at Mahaveer National Taekwondo Championship held at Jaipur Rajasthan. He also represented team India at India Open International Taekwondo Olympic ranking G1 event held at Hyderabad and has competed in Asian championship trials as well as Asian Indoor Games trials at Khel Gao Ranchi and SAI Aurangabad respectively. Despite facing many odds in the sport, he managed to continue his playing career with great enthusiasm. After a two-year situational hiatus caused due to the Covid-19 pandemic, he competed in Tokey Memorial Open National Taekwondo Championship last year, winning a silver medal for J&K and was named the Tournament’s Best Male Athlete. Danish is currently training under his Coach Atul Pangotra (International Coach) at Atul International Taekwondo Academy and is working for the forth coming National and International Taekwondo Championships. He is being supported by the Aspire Educational Services Private Limited and is aiming to achieve his dream of representing India in The Olympic Games. He is also currently endorsing various top brands through SportsApp that includes Goqii Smart Vital  Tryb Wear and Bodyfirst.

When Covid pandemic hit India, not only education but sports too suffered. Meet Danish Manzoor an International Taekwondo Athlete who started practicing Taekwondo at home during the Covid lockdown and took part in an online historic event organized by World Taekwondo, the Online Daedo European Poomsae Taekwondo Championships. Danish was among the top 20 in the world ranking in the above said championship. After this pandemic a national level competition held at Ropar Punjab, the Tokey Memorial National Taekwondo Championships, where he clinched a silver medal and was declared the best player of the tournament. Mr. Danish started training for the G2 Olympic Ranking Taekwondo championships that were supposed to be held in Iran. He was sponsored by Aspire Educational Services Private Limited (AESPL) Mamath Budgam. However, another heartbreak was in store for Danish, when the airlines denied him boarding at the Delhi Airport, because he had received only one dose of vaccination. Danish tried to explain that he had recently been vaccinated with a single dose and, had a negative RTPCR report, but no one listened.”I wasn’t allowed to board the flight, it was sheer heartbreak for me to see the team leaving for Iran. and I was left there at the airport. It was the worst experience of my life. I cried like a baby but the rules were so strict that I had no option but to return home” he recalled. According to Danish he was traumatised for a long time, “after training so hard, it was a nightmare for me. After months I consoled myself that It was not my luck.” Now Danish is preparing for upcoming international ranking events, with a focus on the selection trials of the Asian Games, to be held in Hangzhou, China. He believes that his friends are his biggest strength, and has always backed him. “Whenever I come back from any championship or camp they are as excited as my family. They even share my training videos on their social media accounts” he said with a smile
