বারো মাসি বেবি তরমুজে ঘুরল ভাগ্যের চাকা

বারো মাসি বেবি তরমুজ চাষ করে ভাগ্যের চাকা ঘুরিয়েছেন শরীয়তপুরের জাজিরা উপজেলার ৬০ কৃষক। বাজারে বেশ চাহিদা থাকায় দামও পাচ্ছেন ভালো। জাজিরা উপজেলার মূলনা ইউনিয়নের মিরাশা গ্রামের মামুন শেখ পরিত্যক্ত ৮ শতাংশ জমিতে পরীক্ষামূলক আবাদ করেন বেবি তরমুজ। তাঁর সফলতা দেখে অনেকেই উদ্বুদ্ধ হয়ে চাষ করেন বেবি তরমুজ। এভাবে দিন দিন জনপ্রিয় হয়ে ওঠে বেবি তরজুমের চাষাবাদ। স্থানীয় কৃষি কর্মকর্তা বলেছেন, স্বল্প সময় ও খরচে লাভ বেশি হওয়ায় অনেকেই ঝুঁকছেন এই চাষে। এই তরমুজের চাষাবাদ সম্প্রসারণে ব্যাপক উদ্যোগ নেওয়ার কথা জানিয়েছে স্থানীয় কৃষি বিভাগ।
